And this year it's cotton...

It is almost here.  Our second anniversary.  Where has the time gone?

We decided before our first anniversary that we would try to give each other gifts based on the guides for each year.  Year 1 was easy.  Paper.  I got Kyle the complete set of Louis L'Amour short stories - all 7 volumes.  He got me tickets to the Heritage Hills Historic Homes tour.  We spent the afternoon touring the homes and gardens together.  It was so fun!

This year my preparations have been tough.  The gift is cotton.  Cotton is so easy for the man to buy the woman.  I mean there are sheets, clothes, printed embroidery or monograms, nice towels or a robe, a hammock.  I could go on and on.  But for men???  It's just not that easy.

After brainstorming, researching, racking my brain I finally came up with the perfect gift.  My husband has kept all his old cotton law enforcement t-shirts and has been trying for years to get them made into a quilt.  I bet you are wondering why I'm putting this on my blog since we haven't had our anniversary yet this year.  Well, I will tell you.  After coming up with the most perfect gift.  I had to 1) find someone to make the quilt and 2) find the t-shirts.  Cody and I came up with a plan.  An opening in the conversation came and Cody gently probed Kyle about having saved all his shirts and did he still have them??  Kyle doesn't have the greatest hearing so after 3 times ignoring that question we gave up.  I finally just asked him and told him what his gift would be.  I have the t-shirts now but the gift will probably be late.  I knew the idea was too good to be true.  No surprise.  Oh well.  It will be a gift he will remember forever.

Next year is leather.  That shouldn't be too hard.
