Harvest Mooning: Take 1

Autumn has arrived, dear friends, and although the temperatures aren't "fall" yet, they are leaning that way ever so slowly.  This weekend is Oktoberfest here in McKinney.  The Texas State Fair began this week (fried beer and all).  It promises to be an eventful season.

Along with fall this year comes the harvest moon, thus there is no long period of darkness after the sun sets and moon rises.  In fact, on these nights you can see the full moon rising when the sun is still out.  2010 is the first Super Harvest Moon since 1991.

I have yet to capture the sun's reflection against the harvest moon yielding a reddish orange globe of amazing reflected light, but I have snapped a collection of photos to keep.  The first set (Take 1) are daylight picures of the harvest moon and the sun set's reflection on the clouds.  Tomorrow (hopefully) I will post a recap of Oktoberfest and also Harvest Mooning: Take 2 - a collection of night-time moon photos ranging from a hidden harvest moon to a bright shining full moon bouncing off the clouds.

So, here's to autumn, the autumnal equinox, falling temperatures, falling leaves, and the harvest moon.
