Woes of Summer

Good gravy it's hot outside. Yesterday my Mango Tango Jeep thermometer read 124 degrees. The grass is dead. The potted plants on my patio might as well be. I haven't melted yet but I've gotten mighty close. I have skin peeling on every exposed area of my body. I have sweat stains on every piece of clothing I wear--even my socks. Just standing on the concrete radiates enough heat through a pair of pants to make the hardiest of humans jump up and down like they are doing the jiggly dance. The air conditioner at my apartment can't keep up under 80 degrees forcing me to call maintenance to change my filters and check everything and also for me to run down the street to B,B &B and buy some fans.

As most of you probably know, Kyle and I got engaged not too long ago. We've been waiting on a good time to make it official but our jobs and 6 hours of distance held us off for some time. We are so utterly excited and looking forward to being married and starting our life together. We will attempt to keep you all posted on the coming plans.

In addition, I am way,way behind. As usual. What is up with that anyway? I finally finished the trip to the Smokey Mountains more than a year after the trip. I still have Arizona last December and our family hiatus over to our favorite place, Big Cedar Lodge, in Missouri. The future is holding many exciting possibilities that I can't wait to share with you all - one of them being the marriage of my wonderful brother, Brad to his wife-to-be (and my future sister-in-law ---- Yay!!), Natalie. They are both so dear to me and I wish them every single happiness in the world and can't wait to share in their special day. In addition, Natalie's bridal shower is this month and my amazing friend and veterinary colleague, Sabrina, and her husband Chad are expecting their first baby, a girl, in October. Sabrina's shower is also this month!!!

I project that there will be some good times ahead! Stay in the A/C.
