August Ablaze
The last week went by in a whirlwind of business, fever, and NOT healing from the previous week's calamities - chiggers and a smashed left index finger. Don't get me wrong, the chigger bites are mere polka dots now. And I have the use of my finger back, however black and purple it still may be. But last week, in the midst of my healing, I caught that awful summer flu/sinus infection going around. It started with a sore throat on Tuesday, progressed to congestion on Wednesday and by Thursday (luckily my day off) I stayed in bed most of the day with a high fever feeling miserable. I worked almost 12 hours on Friday and half the day Saturday and today I'm starting to feel a little human again. Now if I can go a few minutes without blowing my nose......maybe it's the August heat frying my immune system.
On a slightly cooler note: the city of McKinney has an Oktoberfest in its historic downtown at the end of September and "Dickens of a Christmas" the last weekend in November. Definitely things to look forward to! Also, Blue Man Group will be in the area in September. I had planned on seeing them in Fayetteville before I left Arkansas. I'm super excited that they will be here.
Kyle and I drove to Sanger to meet his parents at "Babe's," the famous chicken place. On the way over we took a detour and found the most interesting library right down the road from me! It was semi-modern with lots of windows. We both love libraries and I cannot wait to explore it - not that I don't already have 15 books here waiting for me to read. My wonderful cousin from Boston, Amanda, just sent me two more books for my birthday (how sweet of her to think of me!) and I must get to reading them! At least if they are here I don't have the time constraints associated with a library, however, I still love being in them and the smell of the books.
I'll be so glad when fall gets here. It's hands-down my favorite time of year. I'm looking forward to getting outside a little more without the extreme hydration that only takes 2 minutes to set in right now.

Um I hope I can come to the Dickens Christmas!! That is right up my alley! :) Hopefully it doesn't conflict with Bedlam on the 27th :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got the books! Happy (late) Birthday! I hope you don't already have them.
