Taking a Shine to Sunflowers

There are sunflower fields near Whitewright that I've had my eye on photographing. Their purpose is to be harvested for sunflower oil. I'm not quite sure what the main purpose of sunflower oil is...but, nevertheless, they are there. I haven't had my Canon 7D with me for any drive by shooting but I've been pining for picture taking.

I just happened by the fields today in the hundred + degree heat with my point and shoot in hand only to find that all the hardy little sunflower heads were pointing to the ground in shame instead of facing the sun. There were no picture opportunities.

And that is just my luck.
