Beetlepoop, Beetlepoop, Beetlepoop!

That is really what it is supposed to say.  There is no typo.  Beetles in poop.

Some strange occurrences have been happening around here.  Since the weather has gotten warmer I have been finding tootsie rolls of poop made up largely of....beetles.  Yes, beetles.  "Gross!" you say.  Yes, it is in fact gross.  And I haven't found just one or two, but many.  I was sweeping them away before I really figured out the whole story.

My husband insists that the toads are leaving them as presents.  He says they eat beetles and then, well, there you go.  I must say I am skeptical.  Frog poop.  Hmmmm.  Before you start to cut in that I am a veterinarian and should know these things....listen here!  I am not an amphibianologist (of course that's a word) and I am not an entomologist.  So....NO I don't know what kind of vile creature poops out beetles.  But I am going to find out.

And here is what I came up with.....

This is most concerning.  Not only was my husband 100% correct, but if you look closely at the toad poop--there are wings and beetle parts in there.  Just what is wrong with this picture!?!

I officially have a toad poop problem.

  1. I'm just now reading this and can attest to the fact that we have beetle poop near our front door. Hubby told me that the frogs wait under the lights like it's buffet season then poop it up. Thanks for leaving it on my doorstop.
