Storing Fruits and Vegetables

My favorite show is "Yard Crashers" on DIY.  I so wish they would come crash my yard.  I beg and I plead but they never come.  I would even go hang out at Lowe's or Home Depot long term if I thought I had a chance.  But, alas, they never come to Oklahoma.

At any rate there was a DIY download tip about storing fruits and veggies that I did not know!  You should store carrots and leafy veggies at one temperature (see DIY website) and peppers and green beans at another.  Also, don't store  fruits and veggies together as the gas from the fruits will cause the veggies to turn yellow and spoil more quickly.

And....make sure you store potatoes in a cool, dark place like in a cabinet in a wire insert.  Do not store your onions with your potatoes.  When stored close together they produce gases that spoil them both!  Who knew!

To do this I am quite sure that I need more drawers in my huge refrigerator, as well as more cabinets to make a custom one for potatoes, none of which my husband will eat.  Guess, not.
