Flannel Blessings
This morning as I stretch out the time before I head to work (usually I'm gone at or before 7 but the weather is terrible!). It is just frigid outside as the back edge of the storm moved through yesterday leaving behind snow, ice, and not-so-good road conditions. As I rose out of bed this morning I was so very thankful for flannel sheets and flannel pajamas. Texas is not supposed to be this cold.
It's really not that I mind the cold. And I love snow. You'll see if you trek back through many of my travel pictures that I often take winter vacations. I like to ski and I love wintery places. However, this is Texas. And I have to work, drive and stand out in the artic wind. I have to trudge through the slush and sludge left over from the snow to do my daily work. And I don't like it. Snow is for having fun and making snowmen. Snow is not for working. I guess some of that is partly my fault for choosing a profession where you are never off - guaranteed to work some holidays, have to show up in bad weather, must sacrifice a nice warm middle of the night sleep when duty calls. But geez. Can veterinarians work at a bank or something??? Haha.
I am praying that being on-call this weekend will be kind to me. I don't want to be driving around and get wrapped around a pole or get frostbite on my ears, or worse my rear. That is not a happy thought. Ah well, such is life. Wishing you all happy snowflakes....
