Surviving Shoulder Surgery: Installment Two
It's one week post-op. Its 11 a.m. and I am still in my pajamas. Last night was the first time I was able to wear pajamas because I have to have help to change clothes. Now, I'd like to get dressed, but I can't alone yet. So, pajamas it is.
A few nights ago I tried to sleep in my own bed instead of the couch where I have been keeping the midnight watch. It was very uncomfortable and I came right back to the couch after that night. Last evening, amidst the wind howling into the fireplace, the little dog sleeping on top of me that kept jumping on and off the couch, a big dog on the floor that wanted to eat his entire bowl of food and drink his whole bowl of water and then proceed to lick the wound on his leg, loudly, the noises kept coming. I awoke to Cody slamming the door on the way to school and my husband frustratingly trying to give the big dog his medicine. For thirty minutes. And the biggest crick in my neck that I've ever had. Talk about a bad night.
And through all that I thought of the next big thing that it's difficult to do one-armed...
blow your nose!
I know most of you parents do this regularly with your children. But think about this, an adult's nose is bigger than a child's and the Kleenexes are the same size. I have not had the best experiences. I hope you don't have to try it.
Until I can get out of my pajamas....
