Hymenoptera War
I came home after what seemed like the longest day ever to find not one, not two, but four red wasps in my apartment!!!! I am highly allergic to wasps and therefore, they freak me out. One time in college at OU, I lived in Cate Center - an old dorm- with windows lining one wall of my room. I awoke one morning to find about 27 wasps that had made their way through the bent window frame. They were buzzing on the windows, in and out of the blinds. I shudder just thinking about it. My friend, Clay, had to come and kill them all for me.
It was deja vu this evening. Armed with my fly swatter and my can of hornet spray it took me a full hour to kill all four of them. They would swarm on the windows and then the lights. It gave me goosebumps every time I saw one emerge crawling or flying.
I'm still attempting to compose myself and tend to my chores. I'm watching my back. Maybe I should invest in a bee suit. Where are they all coming from?
