Stuck-inside Snow Day Randomness

This is what I'm doing today.........And this is why I'm doing it......

I can't go outside. The roads are terrible. I'm still in my pajamas. And today is as good as anyday to learn Photoshop. Almost all my photographs are unedited (a perfect excuse!) except for some minor cropping or a street sign that I cloned out of a statue of a horse on a street corner in Santa Fe in about 2005. However, I have imminent plans to upgrade my 35mm film Canon Rebel 2000 to a digital Canon 7D or 50D in the near future and I'm committing myself to learning to shoot manually and to use a few minor things in Photoshop. For instance, the picture of my patio in the snow (shown above) is drab and dark and there is just no need! I'm going to learn to fix it. The picture below is me -- vintage film reel, antique and very crooked ladder back chair, pillow made for me by my dear friend Leslye, old bottle, and rock band guitar. Random. Uncombined. Eclectic. Just like me. A little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. But the picture is dark. It has no pizzaz! I'm going to learn to fix it too.

Playing around with a point and shoot. I can't control depth of field. It's so irritating. Just wait until I get my digital Canon.

Here my lens is focusing behind the object right in front the camera. Pioneer Woman would call this wanna-be bokeh in the front. I have some feeling that this is sort of what looking in a crystal ball would be like -- except not so transparent.
This picture is the life of a Pottery Barn freak in the worst way. It's my favorite square vase from PB with some lovely, colorful and exotic, potpourri from there. But check it out...it's dark too! Agggggghhhh.

I don't even have any good words about this one. Well, except that I love that door mat. Not only do I need to sweep the leaves off my back porch and into the surrounding snow but the top of the photo is washed out and yucky. Hmmmm....

I don't know what this is.
Wish me luck on my big undertaking of learning at least half of an obsolete version of an incredibly complex digital imaging program that will change my life. Maybe it won't make as big of an impact as that new hairdryer I bought last year, but hey, I think it will be even more amazing. Off to do some cardio before I sit the rest of the day on my rear end to "study."
I wish you all sunshine and warmer temperatures!
